The final layout of this particular Wave system takes account of the lengths of the commercially available steel tubes, reducing the cutting and bending while preserving the spatial diversity. All longitudinal tubes are securely connected to the 4-ft long structural bracings through cross tube connectors to achieve structural stability. The Wave establishes a new form of public bench that can effortlessly blend into the streetscape, resembling a continuous landform from one angle but visually disappearing from another. The soft form of the Wave invites pedestrians and visitors from all directions, but simultaneously its structural thinness protects the existing view along Broadway / Trans-Canada Hwy. The durability and load capacity of steel tubing ensures not only the safety of the crowd during the Festival, but also the subsequent long-term reuse at other locations.
